The brucespringsteen.it bootleg website seems to agree that this was recorded at L.A.’s Sports Arena on 4 November 1984 – the last of a seven night residency at this venue playing to over 111000 people. Springsteen performed in Japan in April of 1985 and it can be assumed that this bootleg was released fairly soon after that.

1602 B: I’m on fire / Born to run / Detroit Medley / Twist and shout / Santa Claus is comin’ to town
Total Time: 1:41:45
“This is an incomplete Japanese release. Tracks are out of order and the sound is terrible.” Compare this with a HOTWACKS rating of”Exs”.
Shiro from XL Records obviously only wanted to produce a double album (as Springsteen bootlegs were at this point not well established in Japan and no guaranteed sellers) and had to leave out quite a few songs due to Bruce’s marathon concert lengths.

“Johnny Bye-Bye” includes the “Mystery Train” outro. “Shut Out The Light” dedicated to Born On The Fourth Of July author and anti-war activist Ron Kovic who is in the audience. Another fine show, and the last night of a seven night stand at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles.
Audience tape on CDR ‘Los Angeles 84 Last Night’ and also available from Mark Persic’s master recording and titled ‘Hearts Of Fire Grown Cold’ (Ev2). The video footage for the “Born In The U.S.A.” music video is shot at the stadium.
